Papa's Beach Birthday

We went to the coast last weekend for Papa's Birthday. It was one of the most beautiful days I have ever seen at the ocean. Simply stunning, take your breath away kind of beautiful. Best part was we had Nana there to share it with too.

Does this little plant realize what an amazing view it has?

Looking for agates where the creek empties out into the ocean, buurr!

A few fossil treasures and driftwood for a craft project.

Well it only took me 12 years to do it, but this past weekend I went on a little overnight trip with some mama friends without our kids. We booked a yurt down on the coast and had some really relaxing beach time without having to keep a constant eagle eye out for children the whole time.
It was the longest time I have ever been away from Nalah and she is still a pretty big nurser(mostly for comfort at night). I tried pumping  a bunch so Nalah would be set, but doing so I ended up increasing my milk supply and getting really painfully engorged, like hard as a rock melon sized, super painful, engorged.
Despite the painful milk boob issue it was a nice little break, with  beautiful warm sunny weather.  The ocean was bluer than it has ever been.

Yes this is an Emu (more on that later).

We saw two large herds of Elk. Both times they were standing in the middle of the road. The first batch was on a back road to a coastal hiking trail and the second herd with huge males was standing in the middle of Hwy 101 right beyond a sharp turn. I pulled over and got a few blurry shots.

I am relieved we saw no bears. I love bears but never want to cross paths with one while hiking with my children.

I wanted to share some photos of the ever changing beautiful skies we witnessed during our stay on the cost. Although the weather was much colder this year than last(when it was in the 70's and I was barefoot)....storm watching from bed is pretty amazing too. Our room was right next to the Ocean and it was hard for me to be indoors despite the weather.
