Feels like home to me........

Just a few days ago I took a some pictures of the beautiful colors in our yard....the unidentified bush/tree with the leaves that seemed to hold on forever, and our strawberry plants sleeping in the garden box. Now the leaves are GONE and the stawberries coved with snow and ice.
Sophie's school was cancelled for all but two days so we had a bout of cabin fever. I do really love walking in the snow however, it is so much nicer than the rain we are usually plagued with at this time of the year. I love the way Solomon reacts to big wet snowflakes splating on his cheeks.(mom,we borrowed your scarf) It feels like we are back home in Wisconsin. Sophie is really in heaven, but is a bit irritated that I can't drop everything and go outside with her like we used to.I just can't see building a snowman with 24.5lb Sollie on my back!
We are taking advantage of this odd winter weather, it is all so beautifully familiar.

Could it be.... 11 months already?

Solomon has had quite the month. He has learned to sign "Light"and he is very proud of himself. We finally made it to the zoo where he had an intimate moment with an orangutan(see last Picture). He has a great sense of humor and a person must be careful not to leave any skin exposed within his reach because he will do his not so gentle "tickle tickle".Oh,and he gives raspberries too.
He is pulling up on furniture and trying to step off into the abyss on his own.I bet he will walk before he is a year old. Ah it is all so bittersweet, he is such a big boy now. He is our curious little man, always armed with his pointer finger,"Whazaah, whasssat?".
We love our little boy so much........

10 months and a day

Oh , my little hamsicle. It has been 10 wonderful months. I am so happy to spend every day with little Sollie. This month he has learned to wave and give a high five and he can crawl quite fast now. He is the cutest little vacuum cleaner I have ever seen, eating everything he can off of the floor. He had his first taste of guacamole(not off of the floor), he loves it.
He gets pumped every time he sees an animal. He really likes cats and dogs, and he has a special place in his heart for Lola. He gives a little bark whenever he sees a dog.
He does not like loud noises such as the blender and the vacuum. He is afraid of fallen branches with leaves on them and pinwheels.
He is such a weird, funny guy. He is fearless and gets into trouble all the time. I am very busy trying to keep up with him and that is pretty much all I do these days.
He greets every morning with a giant grin. He is full of so much joy and he fills my heart with love and laughter, I am so thrilled to be his mama.

Agate hunting,a good cure for the stomach flu

I wanted to make a post on the blogs 1st birthday, October 11th, but I didn't make it. It is fun to look back at last year and see how we were eagerly anticipating our new family member. We are enjoying the fall, but have had our fair share of illnesses. We didn't let the stomach flu ruin our trip to the coast to go agate hunting. The weather couldn't have been more beautiful although the sun made spotting the treasure a bit more difficult. Ben and Sophie found the best agates this time.

Ok, I guess the carrots are just as bizarre as the strawberries in our odd little garden. This was our first year with a garden and it was more of an experiment than anything else. I am thankful we don't have to count on my gardening skills to feed us. We did have a quite a few good tomatoes, one edible zucchini, and a handful of green beans.

9 months old today!

Lucky for us, happy is contagious. I can't believe how time has flown by. Sollie is really close to crawling. He has a way of getting into trouble whenever he can. He keeps us on our toes for sure. He really loves Milo and Lola and wishes they would pay more attention to him. He seems to be fascinated by all kinds of animals,we really must take him to the zoo.
