Oregon Country Fair 2009

Hello! The fair this year was wonderful. We all had a great time. I had been preparing for weeks to sell a few things at the fair but after the last minute trip planning and deciding to go a day early I just didn't have the time to make that happen this year. On the bright side I will have several new things on my Etsy shop in the very near future.
We camped at Quiet Camp this year which was quiet the first night...maybe only due to the rain outside. A really sweet couple camped next to us, they had two little girls who became instant friends with Sophie. They shared their pancakes and cocoa for breakfast, and the mama did Sophie's hair and painted her face for the fair.The perfect camping neighbors really...unlike the loud annoying teenagers on mushrooms on the other side(but that's another story).
We left a day early .....only to avoid a huge rainstorm on Sunday...I heard it was quite the muddy mess. Whew..

Solomon: A self portrait

I love finding random pictures by Solomon on my camera. Lots of slobbery chin close ups and photos of the couch and blurry pictures of the floor. But I just had to share this one.

Half Birthday Celebration

Hurray for the sweetest boy I know! 18 months already?!
Solomon is a very busy little guy. He loves cuddling up to read books although he lacks the patience to finish one. He is saying several new words a week. Tonight before bed he touched my head and said "head" and then he poked my eye and said"eye" and then "Euce"(gross).He is deadly afraid of bugs, mostly house flys.

We celebrated the day with a trip to the zoo with Sophie , and then we walked down to the toy store in the evening to let Solomon chose a new toy. He happily found the stroller at the end of the store and couldn't give it up. He tried it out with his monkey when we got home. I am sure it will get a lot of use over the next few years. Good choice Sollie.

To Market, To Market

Another visit to the market, Happy Belated Solstice!

Look what I found,,,a five foot tall Hollyhock! Yes, planted from seed this year! My Hollyhocks are 2 inches tall that I grew from seed. SO I am thrilled, I planted it out front and am hoping it will thrive there. It seems everything I plant out there dies,although the daisies are still doing well. Wish me luck.

Snails!

I have always liked all the snails around our yard... and I always felt sad for them when a slimy silver trail ended in a crushed shell on the sidewalk.....until this year. They have destroyed our garden! Back in late April I had a respectable looking row of carrots started, about an inch and a half high, and four healthy looking squash plants.I was thrilled to have an early start to the garden this year, but all my little plants are GONE! I have replanted the carrots(which seem to be their favorites) several times. I sucessfully replanted the squash but I have to cover them with buckets every night so the snails and their tiny slug buddies don't find them. I have tried the beer thing to drown them and purchased earth friendly Slug Stop to encricle my plants in toxic sludge colored goo. Nothing is stopping these guys. I have even taking it as far as going out to the garden in the middle of the night with a flashlight to pick(throw) them out myself. I think we may try the copper barrier around the garden but if that dosen't work I may have to give in. If you know of any snail/ slug stopping tricks(non-toxic) please leave a comment.

Buddies

Our 8th Year......

Today is our 8th wedding anniversary.
Our wedding was one of the best days of my life(coming in third only after the birth of our sweet babes). I know our marriage was met with a lot of scepticism because we were so young. But I knew I loved Ben with all of my heart, and I couldn't imagine my life without him. I look forward to our future and my heart is warmed today with memories of the day that we started our journey together.
