Mother's Day Trip

We had a lovely trip to the coast for Mother's Day. The weather was nice except for the storms that blew in both nights. The first night the winds kept us awake and the second night it was thunder and hail. It was pretty exciting. We got a ton of agates too since the storm churned up the beaches pretty good. Solomon got to walk on the beach for the first time and pick up rocks. He liked to throw rocks into the surf, which was good exercise for me, pulling him back and running when the waves came rolling in. He has no fear and would have willingly walked right into the ocean. But it my opinion it still wasn't warm enough for a soaking wet baby. We did see a few kids swimming, but then there were kids in coats and hats building sandcastles too.
When the weather is sunny one minute and pouring the next it is hard to be too picky when out in the elements. We got lucky it seemed whenever we were OUT the weather was sunny and warm. We had the beaches almost to oursleves this time. That isn't going to be the case after school is out in a few weeks.

Ribbed Baby Jacket

This Ribbed baby jacket turned out to be quite the project. A simple knit really, it was twice forgotten and shoved into the basket of half knit projects. Seen on the blog before here. Once finished it was neglected once again, unworn, in Solomons dresser. It took a long time to get here and now the weather is warming up and the sweater wearing days are numbered. It would be a shame to have this sweater be hidden away after what it went through(or what I went through getting it here).
It looks pretty cute on Solomon ,eh? He even picked out the color of the yarn...way back when...in December I believe. The weather even cooled down enough where he could model it comfortably. He should still be able to make good use of it on our cool early morning walks as we take Sophie to school.
I found the pattern free on line here.

Duck Duck Goose

We went to the park over the weekend and hung out with a few hungry birds. Solomon had a great time quacking at the ducks and the geese....he liked to get really close to their faces and then he would wave and say "Hi" in his tiny voice. He was about as excited as Sophie was here. One time he was almost close enough to touch one, I wish I had a picture but I was standing close just in case the goose was a biter. Solomon watched Sophie and other kids throw bread on the ground for the birds to eat. He couldn't figure out why they wouldn't come up and eat the pebbles that he was throwing. I will have to bring bread for him next time.

Mt.Hood Railroad trip

Well, unfortunately the Fruit Blossom Special was missing one thing............. the fruit blossoms!
Sigh. Kind of a bummer.Since the blossoms are at their peak now in Portland I was assuming they would be in full bloom. Well rumor has it, it will be another week or two before they bloom. Maybe I can talk Ben into going on a little road trip....sigh(hint....hint)before the show is over. It was amazingly beautiful weather and we had fun anyway:

Naked trees!!!!

Sollie are you on a choo choo train?

Hmm,I wonder what I am missing on Club Penguin?

Lets read a book Papa!

I was admiring the mountain in the window glass, but alas the real thing is much more to look at.

Something about Mt Hood makes me want to lick it.

Taking a stop in Parkdale for some music and ice cream.

We found a few blossom here. At least the magnolias are on time.

The Mountain didn't let us down.

yum!!....or as Sollie would say,"Moe"

A Family shot on the open observation car.

This shot makes me think of John Denver.

Weeeeeeeee!

And end to a fine day. These unusual clouds greeted us back in Hood River.

Run For The Arts!

It was a good time this year. The weather wasn't too bad, nice and cool. They even had music to run to this year..mostly funk hits. I got a little teary eyed, I don't even know why. It was just sweet watching the kids get all pumped up. Solomon had fun clapping with the crowd and groovin' to the tunes. Thanks to all Sophie's grandparents for being sponsors.Good job Sophie we love you and were proud of you.
Right before the race began.

She was so quick this is the only action shot I managed to get.

How many laps did she run? Well, you better ask her...

All that watching people run makes a guy thirsty.

See you next time.....
