Finally finished, flaws and all, my first sweater for me......

Well I did it! I finally finished my Tea Leaves Sweater(started back in July)! I have come across so many cute sweaters lately that I want to make, but I just had to finish this first. So here it is, mismatched yarn and all, I am still pretty happy with it, it fits and it is very warm. Although I have only wore it once it is starting to pill pretty badly already, probably cause it took me 8 months to knit it,does anyone have suggestions for this? Should I buy a sweater lint shaver? To read more about my trials and errors with this sweater see here.

Oh, yes I love this! I have been wanting to do this one for me, after I do Ella's! Probably I'll start this Spring and be finished next winter!

hey Heidi, it looks great honestly. i also finished a sweater for myself a few months ago (my first one in years) and it has also badly started to pill. i think i'll just live with it...

Gorgeous! I have one in the Fig colorway. It pills and fuzzes horribly. As beautiful as the yarn is, I won't use it again. I have to shave it every use. High maintenance, but still a wonderful sweater.
I am learning that the softer the yarn, the worse it wears. My favorite sweater that I have knit is in Dream in Color Classy, which is a superwash wool. It isn't all that soft, but the color is fantastic. And, while I don't machine wash it, it is still so much more durable and wearable than my delicate, softy sweaters.
So, I save my Madelintosh sweater and my Louisa Harding Grace sweater for special ocassions and wear my scratchier DIC for every day use. :)
Buy, I still swoon at the colorways in Madtosh!

Love the Tea Leaves pattern and yours is wonderful. I have knit the Tiny tea Leaves twice for my girls, but so want to knit one for myself.

it's lovely! you must be so happy to finally be able to wear it.

my mom never wanted to use lint shavers (saying they ruin the fabric) so it took me many years before i tried it out myself. i agree, it does ruin the fabric in the long run. but when a sweater gets to the point of me not liking it anymore (and then i won't wear it) because of the pills then i gladly revive the sweaters with a shaver! perhaps i ruin it in the long run but in the meanwhile i can wear the sweater and enjoy it.
