No baby yet........

We are still here waiting on baby.....
I have been hiking the hills in the rain for the past two weeks, but that dosen't seem to do anything other than give me a bachache. Nana has been here patiently waiting with us for two weeks now. She was supposed to leave today, but was able to extend her flight for a few more days. Come out now baby so Nana can meet you. It makes me so sad to think of her going home
before meeting the baby. It will be hard anyway. Come on baby...there is only one day of December left!!
Thanks for all the love and well wishes.
I will update when we FINALLY have news.

Santa doesn't need money, he's magic.

Still here and awaiting our new blessing. I had to take some belly by the Christmas tree shots. As you can see I don't have much room left. I am not in any huge rush for the baby to get here.I have to finish my deep cleaning of the apartment first. My midwife will be out of town this weekend, so stay put little one. Once Nana arrives on Monday we will feel much better knowing Sophie will have someone to take care of her on birth day.
Sophie has always made Christmas special for us,but even more now that since she is getting older. She is so excited about everything. We got a tree from the stand down the street on Monday and Sophie decorates it and rearranges the ornaments everyday after school. I hope that if baby does come on his/her due date that they will wait until afternoon so I can be here with Sophie on Christmas morning.
Sophie is hoping for a Barbie Jeep (the kind that kids can ride in)...I told her Santa can't afford that kind of thing and she said, "Santa doesn't need money he's magic."
Hmmm?

The Final Stretch

Four more weeks to go!
We finally have everything we need, that I can think of for the little one. I am sure I will think of more things once the baby is here.
I am so happy we were able to switch over to the Birth Center. I was feeling really depressed after we went on the hospital tour, and not at all looking forward to laboring there.
But now I am really looking forward to having the baby at the birth center. I have heard nothing but great things from other mamas who have given birth there. It has all the comforts and freedom of a home birth, but then you also have the luxury of staying afterwards and being able to rest, and have people feed you and clean up the mess. I have heard Free standing Birth Centers called "The Bed and Breakfast Homebirth."

Caftastic Thanksgiving Break

Sophie had a week off of school for Thanksgiving, and she kept me very busy crafting the whole time.
I saved a few big boxes from our new dresser to make Sophie a playhouse. A plain brown box is still her favorite thing to play with. So we made a castle, and of course we had to paint it too. Sophie had the idea for the curtain and the built in curtain rod.
We also made a ton of paper snowflakes to hang from our ceiling. Then she picked out some soft yarn for a new hat, she insisted all the other ones I have made for her in the past were to itchy. Sophie also helped me make a belly cast. Sophie was born 4 weeks to the day from when I made her cast, Let see if this baby follows the tradition. I will post photos of it once I decide what to paint on it.

Belly Art

Totally unoriginal I know, but I couldn't resist.

Showing off the pumpkins.

The puking pumpkin, Sophie's idea.

A fantasy comes to life

Need I say more?

The Cat Princess

The Loafmeister couldn't decide between cat and princess so I suggested that she could dress as both. I am usually insanely motivated to make her Halloween costumes, but this year I just didn't have it in me. She is pretty proud of that dress however, especailly the hoop skirt underneath. She got to try her outfit out a bit early for a Halloween party this weekend.

A Break In The Pea Soup Skies

We had beautiful weather on Ben's day off, and headed out to the pumpkin patch. The bumpy hay ride out to the patch was not so fun for a big pregnant mama, but I think Sophie liked it, maybe Ben too...just a little bit.
Sophie picked out a tiny green pumpkin for the baby, so sweet. I searched all over for one as weird as the one we found last year, but they were all pretty perfect .
Ben is growing a beard for our little Wombfruit to pull on like Sophie did as a wee lass. It should be a nice handful for a baby fist in 9 weeks.

Naked Elderly Women and Cher

I try to make it to the community center at least a few times a week to swim laps in the morning while Sophie is at school. I also am there twice a week for Sophie's swimming lessons. It is always quite the scene, and I can't help leaving with a smile. Not because of all the naked elderly women who like to chat with me in the locker room (hey I should be used to seeing strangers naked after four years of art school) but because there is always a water aerobics class going on. In the beginning of the week a elderly women teaches the class and humps the air while yelling "Pulse, pulse, pulse, pulse" and blasts a funk compilation CD with such treasures as "She's a Brick House" and some Jackson Five.
Then today a tall gangley older man taught the Senior Water aerobics class while blasting Cher(techno style) all morning. I have swallowed quite a bit of pool water laughing while I swim.
Ahh, good times.
It is probably a good thing I have no photo for this post...

Joining the club

Sophie is happy to have finally lost a few teeth. She was anxious about the whole process, and a little weary of the tooth fairy. She left the tooth fairy a note asking for "Ten Bucks" when she lost her first. She awoke in the morning to find five. I explained that the tooth fairy pays a lot more for the first. She was more than content with the buck she got for the second one. God, I love her.

Since we have a new baby on the way I thought this would be a fun way to keep all our beloved family and friends posted on how things are going. Since we are so far away from many of you this will make it a little easier to let you know how we are doing. Now lets see if I can keep this updated.
