Homemade Monkey Birthday!

Solomon has always picked his Birthday cake every year. This year he said monkey and I went a little nuts with the monkey theme. I found a monkey finger puppet pattern on Ravelry and decided to make monkey puppets and masks for Solomon and his buddies. Although it turns out only half the kids showed up for the party so I could have saved myself a lot of time had I known, lesson learned.
So not only did we have monkey cake we had monkey puppets, monkey masks, monkey paper chains, monkey balloon animals and by the time it came to make monkey face shaped pizzas I was just too tired, and the kids could have really cared less about the shape of their pizza. I think they were more focused on the monkey cake.
My sweet little monkey loving 4 year old was quite the happy boy!

I wanted to share the felt baby ball I made from The Children's Year book by Cooper, Fynes-Clinton and Rowling. This was part of the Craftalong for June, I believe. It came to mind when I was thinking of a gift to make my dear friend's daughter for her first birthday. It was fun to make and I plan to make more. Both of my kids want one now too:)

The chicken and the cockerel...

Hello. Please forgive my lack of blogging last week, it was super busy and I found all of my "spare time" used up for the making of things. But my goal this week is to get all caught up.
I wanted to share the most recent finished Craftalong(please see link on sidebar for more details) project from The Children's Year by Cooper,Fynes-Clinton and Rowling. The Chicken and the cockerel on page 22 of the book.
Yet another sweet fun, easy, quick , craft. After I made them and placed them on the bookshelf in our living room and it didn't take long for my little guy and his big sister to find them. Solomon proudly shouted "I Like-a chicken." I found them stashed several places before they were photographed, and come to think of it I am not sure where they ended up. But they are well loved and that is what matters most.
