Knit it while the knitting is good....
I started these pants a few months ago for Sollie, but they were put aside so I could finish other knitting projects. I finally got them done! I found the pattern free on Ravelry.(For thoes who may care to know, they are called "Kanoko Pants" by Yumiko Sakurai). They would have been a pretty quick knit if I stuck with them. But they were one of those projects I had to force myself to complete....like the second sock...that second sock is so hard to knit, especially if I start something new after the first one. Does anyone else have this problem?
There is only a short period in a child's life when he is still willing to wear hand knit pants.....so it was a race against time. Solomon still seems okay with it...I think he genuinely likes them....

Getting out of Dodge....
We had a very productive long weekend. On Saturday we hiked around the waterfalls in the gorge, and today we visited the Ocean yet again. It was a beautiful sunny drive out to the coast but a high tide and several storms that are lined up out in the ocean made wandering along the beach pretty much impossible. I don't remember ever seeing the waves so high. The waves at Oceanside pretty much swallowed up the entire beach. Amazing to watch but not the place to fly a kite, not this time at least.
Sophie and I still managed to find quite a few agates near the bay but the waves were very sneaky and stong....which made this mama quite paranoid.
Is it wrong to feed seagulls egg salad?
This time we made it home before dark, a much more relaxing drive through the mountains.
Back to city life again...

Trying to help a little...
At the moment my family and I don't have anything to give but I am hoping to raise money for the people of Haiti through my HumbleLuna shop and my crafting A.D.D
Now through the end of February I will donate 50% of the sales from my Etsy shop to Mercy Corps for disaster relief in Haiti.
I am working on adding several new items to my shop in the coming days. Please check back.
Thinking of others in desperate need really puts my life back into perspective. I have felt many stresses lately due to current unemployment and financial uncertainties. But we are still living pretty comfortably. We have food, water, shelter, love, and our health. We really have SO much.We can still help.
I know many, many other Etsy shops are helping out too. So if you need to buy a gift for a Birthday or Valentines Day consider checking there first.

All Boy
This is so funny. This is how my silly guy falls asleep. He likes the flashlight shining directly in his face, I don't know how he sleeps that way.

For Solomon on his 2nd Birthday....
I just wanted to share the dinosaurs I made for Sollie's birthday. I started the Brachiosaurus a few days before Christmas and finished it in only two days. I figured I would have enought time so I made the Triceratops too. I used Kureyon from Noro yarn and the pattern can be found HERE.

A spontaneous ocean trip....
After all the stress of the holidays and getting everything ready for Solomon's Birthday it was time to relax.
Plagued with wanderlust and a NEED(at least on my part) to get out of the city for a while, we found ourselves at the ocean on Sunday.
Maybe not the most practicle of choices with Sophie starting school again the next day, but I think we all had a great time.
I won't mention the white knuckle DARK mountain drive in the way home...or maybe I will. Still worth it if you ask me.

A great Birthday, ugly sweaters and all..
Solomon had a super fun 2nd birthday, and I made it through the whole day without crying. Most of the pictures I took from the party didn't turn out due to low light, but I will post the pictures that Solomon took himself in the next few days.He is a future photographer, I swear!

Our sweet guy is 2!!!!
Last night Solomon woke up at midnight to the sound of fireworks. What a cool way to start his Birthday every year! It is as if the whole city is celebrating his birth.
Happy 2nd Birthday my sweet sweet boy. We are so glad you came!
